 The Liaququ starsystem is 28.44 lightyears away from Sol in sector [2, -2]. Its central star is known to astronomers as Gamma Pavonis, but under the 2420 Uniform Galactic Naming Algorithm was designated Liaququ. System age is 3.3 billion years, plus or minus a couple of millions. Accretion processes are still taking place, albeit on a much reduced scale, so this system is fairly young. Altough there are no asteroid belts worthy of the name, the system contains large amounts of space debris - asteroids, wandering small moons and dust concentrating in a disk some 40 AU's across, a proof of its young age. It is a sparsely populated system, partly because accretion isn't finished, partly because the original protostellar cloud is believed to have been small in size. Its rocky planets have densities above what is considered average for this type of system, and this is atributed to the fact that this system and all others on a 10 lightyear radius are believed to have coalesced from the same nebulae - a supernova remnant of a large O class blue supergiant interacting with a huge emission nebula whose traces are still visible in the Epsilon Indi - 36 Ophiuchi area, with the supernova remnant providing the heavier elements. This increased density means that the rocky worlds are (were, sadly, see History) exceptionally rich with heavy metals.
 The system of Liaququ is an Independent Democracy / Parliamentary Republic. It has a president elected by universal vote for a 5 year term. The Parliament is bicameral - the House of Representatives and the Senate. The System Constitution and Penal Code are derived from that of the old Earth state of France - more precisely the Napoleonean version.
 The system has a population of 9.2 million people, 95% living on New California, the rest being spread across the various moons and large asteroids. The population genetic background is Mediterranean - the colonists that arrived in 2600 were originating from either Spain, Italy, Greece or Turkey. The religious background is very varied but the most important cults are Roman-Catolic (44%), Muslim (22%) and Greek Orthodox(20%) (see PES info).
 The system GNP amounts to c3,233,200,000, tourism, agriculture and trade being the main contributors here, with mining and industry only playing a secondary role.
 Official language is Old Core (Federal) English, altough the majority of the inhabitants still speak their original mother tongue.
